Doomguy goes wild thanks to a new Stray Doom mod that turns the space marine into a ginger cat.
Stray turned out to be a huge success, due in large part to humanity’s feline obsession. While cats were once a staple of scribbles in ancient Egypt, the internet is the new medium where we can worship everything from their beans to their prickly personalities. We love cats so much that there are even Stray mods that let you put your own cat in the game.
But now we’re at the point where Stray is spreading to other titles. And modder Doom Edy Pagaza (opens in new tab) has the purrr-fect lined up for us. “I know ‘Can it run Doom?’ is one thing, but I also think ‘Can you put him in Doom?'” they tweeted (opens in new tab)before teasing the upcoming Stray Doom mod with a trailer.
Final space meow-rine
In addition to causing the requisite amount of carnage, Stray’s cat has retained some of its original moves. In the trailer, we can see him doing some impromptu cleaning, as well as taking a load off after his kill with a good layover. Not unlike real cats who nonchalantly relish the consequences of their real-life barbaric antics.
He is also armed and kills anything that moves. The accuracies of this mod are endless, it seems. Killer gloves are dangerous enough for your house cat. Just be grateful that you didn’t develop opposable thumbs and find the weapon safe, because this is a glimpse into that future.
The Stray Doom mod goes live today, July 27, according to the YouTube video description. Pagaza hasn’t specified where it will be when it launches, but you’ll likely find it at your page in Mod DB (opens in new tab). Keep an eye on his mods page and Twitter account if you can’t wait to get your paws on him.
In the world of Stray mods, you can ramp things up by playing split-screen multiplayer. PS4 and PS5 players may not have mods, but they can try Stray for free along with several other games. You just need to sign up for a free trial of PS Plus.
